Short answer
Unlock the domain at your current registrar, get its EPP (authorisation) code, then order the transfer on our domain transfer page and enter the code. International domains such as .com take 5 to 7 days; .com.ng transfers follow NiRA’s process.
Moving a domain to Hostnali keeps your website and email working: only the company you pay for the domain changes.
Step by step
- Unlock the domain in your current registrar’s dashboard (sometimes called “transfer lock” or “registrar lock”).
- Get the EPP code, also called the authorisation or auth code. Your current registrar shows it in the dashboard or sends it by email. See what an EPP code is.
- Order the transfer on our domain transfer page: enter the domain, paste the EPP code and pay.
- Approve it if the registrar emails the domain’s owner to confirm. The transfer then completes on its own.
How long it takes and what it costs
- .com.ng and other Nigerian domains follow NiRA’s transfer process, which is often quicker; our team will tell you what to expect.
- .com, .net, .org and other international domains take 5 to 7 days.
- A paid transfer adds a year to the domain’s expiry date. Where the transfer price is zero, the expiry date stays the same.
Transferring a .com.ng costs ₦0; a .com costs ₦26,250.
Before you start
- Make sure the domain has more than 7 days left before it expires.
- International domains can’t move within 60 days of being registered or transferred.
- Keep your website and email where they are until the transfer finishes, or ask us to migrate them for free.
