Do I need a Nigerian IP address for my server?

Updated Hostnali team

Short answer

Most websites don't need one. You need a Nigerian IP address when a service you connect to only accepts Nigerian IPs (some payment, banking or government systems), when local rules require it, or when all your users are in Nigeria and every millisecond counts. Our Nigerian VPS comes with a Nigerian IP.

An IP address is your server’s number on the internet, and each one is registered to a country.

When a Nigerian IP helps

  • Services that only accept Nigerian IPs: some payment APIs, banking integrations and government systems only allow requests from Nigerian addresses.
  • Local users and low latency: apps where every response time matters, such as point-of-sale systems or real-time dashboards used only in Nigeria.
  • Data rules: some organisations prefer or require their data to stay in Nigeria.

When it doesn’t matter

For a normal business website, blog or online shop, the IP’s country makes little difference. Search engines look at your domain (.com.ng), language and content to decide which country your site is for, and good caching makes pages fast everywhere.

How to get one

Choose the Nigerian VPS & Nigerian IP tab on our VPS hosting page. Nigerian VPS plans start at ₦41,000 a month, and you can add Windows Server for a Windows VPS with a Nigerian IP.
